Interior Design - The Italian Way

Italian interior designs are not limited to Italy but to every country where the Renaissance extended. Not only nowadays, but Italian designs were and will always be “in” no matter what, their trend is not going to vanish, in near or farsight. But what appeals to all of us today, do we know its roots?

So let, Let’s take a look at its history!

Roman style of ornamentation and classical architectural elements from the renaissance period 'big-banged' as the cluster of fine interiors. With the specialty in decoration right from the treatment of walls to the affluence of woodwork and the nobility of fireplace are the 'go-to' in Renaissance interior.

Italy was, is, and will be associated with Renaissance and the fine interiors, though the latter flourished and extended in other countries. Domes constructed as rotundas, cabinets like caryatids bordering central doors, triangular pediment, and cloister of semi-circular arches are some of the hallmarks of Renaissance buildings.

The architects ‘profound’ from that time are Palladio, Alberti, and Brunelleschi related the importance of harmonious form and mathematical proportion to human scale.

Some Distinctives of Italian Interior Design:

  1. Rustic and Modern ‘Mix-up’ :

Contemporary and Rustic styles are generally mixed to preserve the character of Italian Culture. ‘Old is not gone’ is bygone to reminisce, but in today’s time, it creates a perfect irony that lures people for Italian Interiors.

  1. Open Spaces :

‘Space Look Bigger’ is a go-to approach in Italian designs, though they are on the smaller side but, airy spaces are the key.

  1. Austere :

‘Less is more’ is an incorporated concept common with tidy vision ‘always’. Concealed storage areas are a major in hiding clutter.

  1. Stone-work :

From terracotta tile floor to the luxurious marble countertop, some of the aspects like these are included in Italian Interior Design’s intricate stonework.

Modern Italianism:

From bright whites to moody, desaturated colors, natural materials to more luxe styles can be seen styles in Italian interiors.

If we have to explain Italian interior design in a bracketed way(in context) to modern times, it is both clean and modern, but also moody and immersive. Scandinavian style furniture is ‘quotidian’ to our retinas whenever we picture the Italian interior.
